I Will Be Here the Next Time That You Crash

Once in a blue moon, you hear a song that hits your ears that just seems to be written for you and you alone. I recently came across such a song that I couldn’t help but apply to my own feelings of how my role as a bipolar supporter fits in with my marriage.

As with many of today’s music, the message is truly metaphoric and sometimes make you want to decipher as much as possible and pick and choose some of the lyrics that *might* sound relevant to you. This song didn’t give me the chance to do so, it all just hit…and then I saw the video and that finalized the deal for me.

Sorry for the not-so-helpful post here, but really felt like sharing this one.

With a passion to reach out and to help others, Rich opens up a direct view into the trials and tribulations that come with managing a bipolar relationship and how to use real-world techniques to aid in stability and support.

I used to love the song "Unwell" by Matchbox 20 and used to listen to it a lot, especially when I was feeling down. I was diagnosed two years back and just when I was trying to get to grasps with what being bipolar actually means to me and how I can start to build a life now that I know what it is that keeps going wrong, I stumbled on this song again. And it just brought tears to my eyes. The entire song seemed to just explain my feelings at that time, being afraid that everyone was going to desert me now that it was officially a disorder, not just a simple depression, burn out or something else that I can "get better from" and get on with living my life. It's here to stay, but hey, you CAN learn to live with it. "Stay awhile and maybe then you'll see a diffrent side of me."
Thank you for an awesome blog, it has been really helpful in understanding things from my boyfriends point of view, who bless him is still hanging on and says the normal days more than make up for all the difficult times.
  • Hi Anna, thanks for posting...it does sound like you've been able to develop a great attitude and have accepted the challenges, good on you! I truly appreciate the kind words and I'm very happy to know that my words are indeed helping others. Hang in there and take care!
  • Great song!! I can see how that song and especially the video would hit home for you. I had a similar experience with a song and its actually the song that pushed me to get help for my BP and that is "Schizophrenic Conversations" by Staind. That song still hits home for me because the words are how I feel some of the times.
  • Thanks Dennis! I'll have to check out the song you mentioned.
